About the program

Striking foundations for beginners

Coach Jian offers striking foundations for beginners through Kalev Fitness Solution. Using The Strike Method™ and fundamental movement patterns, clients receive not only instruction in how to train boxing, kickboxing and/or Muay Thai — but mastery of the fundamental movement patterns those arts are built on.

This is the LEARN tier of TSM STRIKE: a 1–3×/week program that assists beginner combat sports athletes in learning boxing, Muay Thai and/or kickboxing from the ground up. Learning is guided by The Strike Method™ Motor Learning Systems, ensuring every TRAINJIAN student leaves with a fundamental grasp of the seven primary movement patterns.

The 7 fundamental movement patterns

Every strike, every stance, every step out of range draws on these seven. They are trained deliberately, not incidentally.

  • 01Squat
  • 02Hinge
  • 03Lunge
  • 04Push
  • 05Pull
  • 06Rotation
  • 07Gait / Carry

The 7-stage motor learning system

The sequence The Strike Method™ uses to install a movement — each stage earning the next.

  1. Mobility
  2. Proprioception
  3. Coordination
  4. Strength
  5. Control
  6. Synergy
  7. Integration
Why patterns first? Most beginners are taught strikes as shapes to copy. The Strike Method™ teaches the movements underneath the shapes — so once you own the pattern, new techniques land faster and hold up under fatigue.

Who it's for

Built for beginners, in any of these disciplines:

  • Boxing
  • Muay Thai
  • Kickboxing

No prior striking or combat sports experience is required — this program assumes none. It suits complete beginners, athletes from other sports wanting striking skill, and anyone returning to training who wants their fundamentals rebuilt properly.

What you need to bring

  • Jump rope Required. Coach Jian can help you source one.
  • Hand wraps Required. Coach Jian can help you source these.
  • Gloves — 10–12 oz Required. Gloves are available to borrow during your first session, so you can try before buying.
Nothing to buy before your first session. Gloves can be borrowed, and Coach Jian will help you source a jump rope and hand wraps once you have trained once and know what you want.

Sessions are billed per session, per hour. The longer the agreement, and the more frequently you train, the lower the rate. Agreements of 6 or 12 months are available.

How the agreements work. The rate is set by how long you commit and how often you train. Longer agreement and higher frequency both lower the per-session price, and the two paid-monthly plans spread your session cost evenly across the year.
Not sure which fits? Book the free first session and Coach Jian will recommend the frequency and agreement that match your goals and schedule — no commitment is made before your first session.

Waiver & medical questionnaire

Before you can participate, two things must be on file at Kalev Fitness Solution: a completed Par-Q (physical activity readiness questionnaire) and a signed liability waiver. Both are completed in the same short online form.

  • Select “KFS Membership” and note that you have just signed up for classes.
  • Complete the Par-Q health screening.
  • Read and accept the adult release of liability.
  • If you are under 19, a parent or guardian must complete the acknowledgement of risk on your behalf.

Opens the Kalev Fitness Solution form in a new tab.

Complete this before your first session. If you have any difficulty with the form, contact Coach Jian and she will point you to the right place.
